Roberta was one of the original board members and Founding Executive Director for the grassroots non-profit initiative.
Passionate about the present condition of medical care in the north she dedicated her MBA studies to the research and development of the initiative. Throughout her career, Ms. Squire’s achievements have resulted in numerous promotions and community recognition awards, including the 2014 8th Annual Northern BC Healthier You Awards for research.
Currently, Roberta holds the position of CEO at United Way of Northern BC (UWNBC) where she leads a Northern BC movement for social change comprising over 5 regional districts, 22 communities and 86 Aboriginal communities. As CEO, Roberta is responsible for implementing UWNBC’s policy and any changes to it. United Way of Northern BC focuses on ensuring people move from a life of poverty, to one of possibility; that communities are built to sustain healthy people; and that kids can be all that they can be.
Together with many agencies and partners, we improve lives locally. As the aims of United Way of Northern BC are focused towards the health, education, and financial stability for every person in Northern BC communities, it is Roberta’s goal to ensure that UWNBC’s strategy is geared towards this. With over 2000 volunteers and more than 4800 donors, UWNBC raised and invested over $4 million for Northern communities over the last 3 years. As part of a provincial network, United Way of Northern BC links with over 125 organizations and provides 519 programs around the North.
Prior to this leadership role, Roberta worked in academia, the financial industry, Northern BC H.E.R.O.S. as the Executive Director and worked as a consultant providing client services in resource development, marketing and strategic planning.
